Do I hear five!?
There’s not much to write about Pixar’s Piper (who picked a peck of pickled peppers), other than its superior to its feature-length film. The story follows an unnamed baby sandpiper as it learns to hunt and overcome its fear of the ocean through the observation of a baby hermit crab. The short is visually gorgeous (a redundant statement to make when it comes to Pixar) and really cute—the protagonist being an adorable little ball of feathers.
While not much of a comedy, there is one witty jump cut that got a good chuckle out of me. There’s not much else to write about Piper: it’s a cute little short about facing your fears and overcoming obstacles. It’s far from Pixar’s greatest short, but it’s at least a better sea-based story compared to the all too forgettable Finding Dory.
